Sithangi Privacy Policy
Sithangi ("we", "us") operates this matrimony app and website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: full name, phone number, date of birth, gender.
- Profile details: district, religion, ethnicity, caste (optional), civil status, profession, height, weight, a short bio, and profile photos.
- Identity verification (optional): your National Identity Card (NIC) photo and a selfie, used only to verify your identity and never shown to other members.
- Horoscope details (optional): birth time, birth place, nekatha, and rashiya, if you choose to add them.
- Payment information: for Gold package purchases, we collect payment method details and, for bank transfers, a copy of your deposit slip. We do not store full card numbers.
- Usage data: when you were last active, device push-notification tokens, and basic app interaction data (interests sent/received, messages).
2. How we use your information
- To create and display your profile to other members.
- To verify your identity and review profile submissions before they go live.
- To process Gold package payments.
- To send you notifications about messages, interests, and account status.
- To keep the platform safe — for example, reviewing reports made against other members.
3. Who we share it with
- Other members see your public profile fields (name, age, district, religion, ethnicity, caste, profession, bio, photos) once your account is approved. Your NIC, selfie, and payment details are never shown to other members.
- Service providers who help us run Sithangi: (database, authentication, and file storage), Firebase (push notifications), and (SMS verification codes). These providers only process data on our instructions.
- We do not sell your personal data.
4. Data retention and deletion
- We keep your data for as long as your account is active.
- You can request account deletion at any time from Account → Delete my account. Your account and its data (profile, photos, messages, interests) are permanently deleted 14 days after you request deletion, giving you a window to change your mind. You can cancel a deletion request at any point during that window.
- Some records (for example, payment records required for accounting) may be retained longer where the law requires it.
5. Your rights
Under Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act and applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain uses. Contact us at privacy@sithangi.lk to exercise these rights.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted storage, access controls) to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. Please use a strong password and keep your login details private.
7. Children
Sithangi is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app.
